The Armed Forces Covenant
2020
Bridgewater is committed to honouring our Armed Forces Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant is all about fair treatment of people who have left the forces. Providing for those who have served is a top priority for us here at Bridgewater. Some find it difficult to find employment with their background and we’re aiming to change this.
We believe that supporting our local ex-forces community is vital. Whether you are currently serving or have left the forces, Bridgewater is here to support your needs. We’re keen to aid in any way that we can and grow our own ex-forces community here.
Currently, we’re bronze level with the Armed Forces Covenant, striving to become Silver accredited this year. Chris Smith – one of our valued team members – has been a reservist for the Royal Artillery since 1986 and has been a Motor Transport Sargent for 3 years.
Annually, Chris will attend around 14 events, including learners training, team building activity weekends, and adventure training. Chris is trained in surface to air missiles, operating field guns, HGV driving with ammunition and working on the barracks.
We’re currently working closely with The Armed Forces Covenant to recognise the support we’re able to provide for:
– Reservists
– Cadets
– Veterans
– Military partners
Back in September 2020, our MD, Aiden, went along with Chris to the annual camp event in Otterburn. They hosted an employer engagement day, to show more of what Chris does away from work.
The day was spent with the field guns and demonstrations for the guys!
At present, we’re able to offer our ex-forces staff:
– Additional leave for training purposes
– Support for mobilisation periods
If you’re seeking employment in the construction industry, please reach out and we’ll see if we have any positions available to suit!
